Key Accountabilities:

Role purpose:

The Digital Program and AI Specialist will play a critical role in developing and implementing Lusail Museums digital strategy with integrated AI capabilities. Working under the direction of the Head of Digital Innovation, this position will research, design, and coordinate the implementation of innovative digital initiatives that leverage artificial intelligence to enhance museum operations, visitor experiences, and collection management. The specialist will work collaboratively across museum departments and with Qatar Museums teams to ensure digital solutions are aligned with the museums mission and support operational requirements. This role requires both strategic vision and practical implementation skills to build a forward-thinking digital program during the museums development phase.

Duties & responsibilities:

Digital Strategy and Program Development

  • Collaborate with the Head of Digital Innovation to develop and execute the museums digital strategy
  • Translate strategic plans into actionable digital programs and initiatives with clear implementation pathways
  • Coordinate digital projects across departments to align with museum objectives and visitor needs
  • Manage timelines and resources for digital implementations, ensuring efficient delivery
  • Establish evaluation frameworks to assess digital program effectiveness and guide continuous improvement

AI Research and Implementation

  • Research, propose, and implement AI applications relevant to museum operations, collections, and visitor experiences
  • Ensure AI capabilities are built into digital initiatives from the beginning
  • Design and develop AI prototypes for testing key concepts, with pathways to full implementation
  • Monitor emerging AI technologies and innovations in the cultural sector, analyze their potential applications, and create implementation strategies for promising solutions
  • Develop frameworks for ethical AI use in museum contexts

Visitor Experience Enhancement

  • Design digital touchpoints that incorporate AI to enhance both online and in-person visitor experiences
  • Create personalization frameworks using AI to adapt to visitor preferences across digital platforms
  • Develop innovative interactive experiences that utilize AI capabilities for engagement with collections and exhibitions
  • Support the creation of digital content strategies that leverage AI for improved relevance and accessibility
  • Design digital solutions that complement physical museum spaces and extend the visitor journey beyond on-site experiences

Data Strategy Development

  • Establish frameworks for data collection that will support both immediate digital needs and future AI applications
  • Ensure digital programs are designed with data collection, analysis, and utilization in mind
  • Create systems for analyzing visitor interactions to improve digital offerings
  • Develop data governance protocols that balance analytical needs with privacy and ethical considerations

Cross-Departmental Collaboration

  • Work with curatorial, learning, and exhibition teams to integrate digital and AI solutions into museum plans
  • Advise on technical requirements and possibilities for other departments initiatives
  • Share insights on AI applications with the broader museum team
  • Collaborate with Qatar Museums teams including Marketing, Digital Experience, Digital Transformation, and IT to ensure alignment of digital initiatives and leverage institutional resources
  • Support the documentation of digital requirements for architectural planning and technological infrastructure

Project Management and Implementation

  • Oversee the implementation of select digital projects from conception to delivery
  • Develop detailed project plans for digital initiatives with clear milestones and deliverables
  • Manage resources effectively to deliver digital programs within budget and timeline constraints
  • Establish quality assurance processes for digital initiatives to ensure they meet museum standards
Qualifications/Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS
  • Advanced knowledge of digital technologies and platforms relevant to cultural institutions.
  • Strong understanding of AI applications, including machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision.
  • Experience designing and implementing digital strategies and programs.
  • Proficiency with digital project management methodologies and tools.
  • Ability to translate high-level vision into practical implementation plans.
  • Understanding of user experience principles and design thinking approaches.

  • Track record of successful digital project implementation.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and managing stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of current digital practices in museums and cultural institutions.
  • Understanding of cultural context of Qatar and the Gulf region is beneficial.
